Closure affects Nanjing Road E. approach to Bund

A section of Nanjing Road E. has been closed till the end of June.

The government said the closure, which began yesterday, is to improve the drainage system.

During the eight-week closure motorists will not be able to use Nanjing Road E. to drive in from Zhongshan Road (E-1) to Henan Road M.

While the section from Jiangxi Road M. to Sichuan Road M. bans all vehicles in both directions, motorists can use Nanjing Road E. from Henan Road M. to Jiangxi Road M. and from Sichuan Road M. to Zhongshan Road (E-1) to drive in the direction of the Bund.

Pedestrians are unaffected by the roadworks.

Motorists who want to enter Henan Road M. from the Bund are advised to take Beijing Road E. that runs parallel to and north of Nanjing Road E., and those driving from Jiujiang Road to the Bund should use Sichuan Road M. and Nanjing Road E. or Henan Road M. and Beijing Road E.

The project, which will install larger drainage pipes, is scheduled to last 57 days. It will be suspended during the city’s high school and college entrance exams on June 6, 7, 8, 17 and 18, officials said.
