Consultative conference wraps up

MEMBERS of the city's top advisory body, having taken in public opinions about government policies and social issues, submitted 903 proposals to the second session of the 11th Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative conference, which concluded at Shanghai Exhibition Center yesterday.
That was 20 proposals more than last year. Of the total, 226 -- or about 25 percent -- were about economic issues and 260 related to science and technology development, education, culture, health and sports.
The members also raised 229 proposals about city construction and management and 188 about building democracy and improving Shanghai's legal, political and cultural systems.
