SWAROVSKI Crystal, a famous cut-crystal producer from Austria, has been ruled to have the right to use the domain name of www.chinaswarovski.com and must be compensated 98,000 yuan (US$14,693) by the Shanghai Wangxing Info-tech Co Ltd, which had registered four domain names including the word "swarovski" without permission.
The company registered the four domain names in June 2008 and sold counterfeit Swarovski crystals on its websites. The Huangpu District People's Court judged that the company had infringed the well-known trademark of Swarovski. It must stop using the domain names and selling counterfeits. The domain name of will be transferred to the Austrian company.
