Crackdown on illegal taxis and buses in Fengxian
FENGXIAN District launched a three-day crackdown last week against illegal transportation services, targeting illegal taxis and buses.
The suburban authority received tip-offs about illegal buses operating in the university town at the end of last month.
One vehicle, which was not qualified for bus operation, was caught last Thursday.
The authority said the illegal bus’s operator had posted timetables in bus stations around the town and charged 10 yuan (US$1.45) per person via WeChat payment.
The company behind the illegal operation could face a penalty of up to 50,000 yuan, the authority said.
Four illegal shuttle buses were also caught, allegedly hired by a plant to ferry workers between the workplace and their dorms.
