Custom-made solution for global trade
SHANGHAI Customs has set up a Big Data platform for cross-border trade management to assist participants in the upcoming China International Import Expo.
It will allow local customs to share information with the city’s international trade “single window” systems and the National Exhibition and Convention Center.
The bilingual platform also provides whole-procedure declaration services online which makes it easier for the CIIE exhibitors to apply.
Previously exhibitors had to hand application forms and lists of exhibits to customs before the products entered the country.
Information about the exhibitors and their exhibits will be imported into the platform which will produce e-certifications.
The platform’s services also cover logistics. It can send related documents to harbors and help companies to make logistics arrangement in advance.
The risk warnings on the inspection and quarantine documents of exhibits are also shown on the platform.
“With thorough data collection, the Big Data platform has recorded information about the exhibitors from different industries and countries,” said Dai Congrong, an official with the customs.
“It can provide research and analysis services, which forms a solid information foundation for the customs to build a whole trading chain monitoring system.”
According to Dai, the platform will automatically alert customs to products that may pose a risk.
Dangerous chemicals, items from infected areas and products with radiation will be seized.
In addition, customs will provide on-site supervision at the exhibition center during the CIIE with nearly 100 customs officials present.
