Customs seize drugs sent in mail
DRUG smugglers are using food and health products as a cover for mailing drugs into China, Shanghai Customs said on Friday.
This year, customs officials have seized more than 70 kilograms of drugs, such as marijuana, cocaine and methamphetamines, from 25 mail packages.
Ten of the seized packages contained marijuana and were hidden in gift boxes of American ginseng and cereal, officials said.
In a recent bust on October 25, customs officials found nearly 1.4 kilograms of marijuana in three packages all mailed by the same person to China.
