Dad stabbed to death trying to protect daughter

A FATHER was killed with a knife yesterday trying to protect his daughter from her estranged husband, officials said.

The husband, surnamed Shen, wounded his wife, surnamed Xue, and killed his father-in-law with a knife in a community in Zhujing Town of Jinshan District at around 11:30am yesterday.

Xue had asked for a divorce because Shen frequently beat her, officials said. They separated after Shen would not agree to a divorce.

Shen waited for Xue to get home at about 11:20am and when she arrived, they fought. Her father came down to mediate after hearing their wrangling.

Shen suddenly slashed at Xue's throat and began to stab her head. Shen then stabbed and killed his father-in-law, who was trying to protect his daughter.

Shen's 14-year-old daughter witnessed the violence and called police. Shen fled on an electric bicycle. The suspect was caught at 1:40pm by police.
