Demand for staff ‘set to increase’
THE private sector demand for workers is expected to increase more in the second half of this year than it did during the same period last year, according to a labor demand climate index report released yesterday by the Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
The report was based on annual surveys of 3,500 randomly selected local enterprises carried out since 2006.
The index ranges from 0 to 200. Anything bellow 100 indicates contracting demand and anything over 100 reflects an improvement.
The index for the second half of this year was 103.4, which is 0.1 points lower than the first half, but 7.8 points higher than the same period last year.
About 55.8 percent of the enterprises surveyed said they would like to recruit new employees in the second half of 2016, 0.5 percent less than in the first half and 5 percentage points higher than the same period last year, it added.
