Disney gears up for first New Year
SHANGHAI Disney Resort is presenting a series of new shows, seasonal food and lucky bag merchandise for its first Chinese New Year, which begins on January 28.
Throughout the Spring Festival, the highlight at the resort will be the nightly program Ignite the Dream: A Nighttime Spectacular of Magic and Light, followed by a special event featuring New Year wishes from visitors.
To the tune of a symphony composition by famous Chinese musician Tan Dun, a series of inspirational best wishes and quotes will be projected onto Mickey Mouse-shaped lanterns on the towering Enchanted Storybook Castle.
This interactive program is the first in Disney parks and resorts around the world.
A drum ceremony in the Gardens of Imagination will be held each morning through to February 28.
Marching to the beat of the drums and interacting with visitors, Mickey and Minnie will be dressed in traditional Chinese costumes.
The gardens will also host a dragon dance performance which visitors are encouraged to join. Symbolic golden rooster designs will be seen all around the resort during the Year of Rooster festival.
