Driver ‘tied up and robbed’
TWO men accused of robbing and drugging an illegal taxi driver late last year have been arrested for robbery by Minhang District prosecutors.
They said the men, surnamed Wang and Ran, both in their 20s, ordered the driver surnamed Shen to stop on a remote street. They tied him up, threatened to kill him and seized tens of thousands of yuan and persuaded Shen to tell them the password of his bank card, prosecutors said.
Thanks to roadside monitoring cameras, police caught the pair within a week. The two men said they had targeted illegal taxi drivers because they were unlikely to report being robbed.
