Fire at dumpsite put out after 30 hours

A fire broke out in a dumpsite in suburban Songjiang District and raged for nearly 30 hours before being put out today.

The fire started at 4:49am yesterday and was only put out at about 10am this morning. No one was injured.

The firefighters were clearing the site and trying to douse the embers.

More than two tons of garbage was on fire in the dumpsite on Maixin Highway.

Investigation is still ongoing.
