Firm loses cartoon copyright lawsuit
A CHINESE company yesterday lost a lawsuit brought by the Japanese publisher of cartoon series "Crayon Shin-chan" for copyright infringement.
Shanghai Enjia Economy and Trade Development Co Ltd - whose products include a wide range of clothes, bags and stationery - was ordered to stop infringing the copyright owned by Japan's Futabasha Publishers Ltd, the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court ruled yesterday.
The Shanghai company was also ordered to pay 300,000 yuan (US$ 47,619) to Futabasha in compensation.
