Fish market reported to be moving
One of the city’s largest seafood markets in Putuo District will be relocated in October, Xinmin Evening News reported yesterday.
The Tongchuan Road Seafood Market will move to Taopu Town from Zhenru Town, the report claimed.
A government spokesperson told Shanghai Daily that an official announcement will be made in due course.
A woman surnamed Di who lives near the market said she was glad it might be closing.
“We’ve been complaining for over 10 years about the noise and the smell,” she said.
Another woman said she thinks the move will improve traffic in the area.
“They might make the street (which is one-way because of the market) two-way again,” she said.
