‘Fugitive’ caught at rail station
A man who refused to show his train ticket at the exit gate of Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station turned out to be a fugitive in an injury case, police said yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Zhang, was handed over to police in Pizhou city, Jiangsu Province, where he was being hunted for injuring two people in a fight in September over debt issues.
Zhang, 35 years old and from Inner Mongolia, arrived in Shanghai at 8pm on Monday and was taken away by police at the exit gate after quarreling with ticket officers who had refused to let him pass.
He was persuaded to reveal his name, birth date and hometown.
