Gas explosion at Minhang restaurant injures 6

SIX people were injured, including a child, when a gas tank exploded in a restaurant on Minchi No. 2 Road in Minhang District at about 7:30am today, Shanghai Radio Station said.

Witnesses said they saw heavy smoke blazing out from the restaurant's kitchen after a loud bang. Many of the injured were hit by flying broken glasses caused by the explosion. Firefighters arrived at the scene about 10minutes later.

The injured have been sent to Renji Hospital and Shanghai Children's Medical Center, the report said.

Investigation is ongoing.
