Girl ‘killed by relative’ who took his own life

A 10-year-old girl was killed at home and the suspect, believed to be a distant family member, took his own life, police said.
The girl was found dead in an apartment in a residential complex on Cangyuan Road, Minhang District, on Saturday evening, while the body of the suspect, surnamed He, was found the next morning under a bridge on Longwu Road, 7 kilometers from the girl’s home.
Police said DNA tests showed that He had been in the apartment where the girl was killed.
Citing neighbors of the girl, local news portal thepaper.cn reported that He was a brother-in-law of the girl’s maternal grandfather and held a grudge against him due to the division of property after a divorce.
The neighbors allegedly said that the girl was found dead by her father, while her grandparents were out of town traveling and her mother was shopping.
