Gun buff sentenced for replicas
A GUN enthusiast was sentenced to six months of detention with six months' reprieve for illegally having seven detailed replica guns, the Baoshan District People's Court said yesterday.
The enthusiast, surnamed Zhou, was a customer of a gun-selling website. He was tracked by police after the website was busted in August, the court heard.
Zhou, who said he was a gun lover, bought six detailed replica guns from a store and stored them in his office in May 2008. He bought the seventh, a replica Beretta M9 pistol, from the website in March.
Police seized seven guns and three packs of replica bullets. Two of the replica guns could cause severe injuries. Zhou was captured on September 25.
