Gunman arrested in Baoshan

A man who fired plastic bullets from an air pistol at an apartment building in Baoshan District has been arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm, prosecutors said yesterday.
The military enthusiast, surnamed Gao, bought two air pistols and three boxes of bullets online for 900 yuan (US$144) last August, they said.
Initially content to practice his shooting by firing at foam targets, Gao later took aim at the windows of a residential building close to where he lived.
Though no one was hurt in his nighttime shooting sprees, several residents became sacred and called police.
Gao was detained on April 2 and his air pistols, which were later shown to be powerful enough to cause serious injury and even death, were confiscated.
