Halloween 鈥榸ombies鈥 scare some Metro riders

WITH Halloween coming on Thursday, those who just can't wait to dress up in ghostly attire have been causing an uncomfortable stir on city subways.
Four female “zombies” boarded a Metro Line 2 train from the busy People’s Square Station yesterday and their scary and vivid appearance shocked some passengers, a witness, surnamed Kong, reportedly complained to Metro Express.
The women, all wearing long hair, were described as dressing in light-colored gowns with nurses’ hats. Their faces were made up to be extremely pale while “blood” was streaming down from the corners of their eyes and mouths.
The witness said many passengers gasped or gave a short scream after seeing them getting onboard while an aged passenger was so shocked that she missed her stop.
The Western festival featuring a ghostly yet celebrative atmosphere has increasingly gained fans among the younger Chinese generation as big mainland cities become more open to overseas cultures. However, many aged citizens are unfamiliar with the occasion.
The increasing appearance of subway riders dressing up for the Halloween holiday has drawn some criticism from the public.
The Metro operator had urged people to pay attention to public manners and avoid causing discomfort to others after four similar “zombies,” later confirmed to be female college students promoting a mini-movie, showed up on a local Metro train on the afternoon of October 30 of last year.
