Have you seen a moon so bright 鈥 from the sky?
Fancy a flight for a closer look at the Mid-Autumn moon?
Shanghai-based airlines yesterday came up with a list of flights that will offer a majestic view of the full moon. The Mid-Autumn Festival falls next Thursday when the moon will be at its biggest and brightest of the year.
And if weather permits, heavenly.
Some 700 domestic and international flights will take off and land at Shanghai’s Pudong and Hongqiao airports between 7pm and 2am — the best period to watch the moon.
Passengers should sit on the right side for flights flying north or east, and on the left for those heading south or west. They should also avoid seats near the wings.
Spring Airlines picked two domestic flights — 9C8902 from Mianyang in Sichuan Province to Shanghai that takes off at 7:35pm and 9C8866 from Urumqi to Shanghai that are likely to offer the best view of the only natural satellite of the Earth. The carrier’s international flight — 9C8891 from Shanghai Pudong airport to Bangkok, is another good option.
“The color of the moon will change as planes ascend and the experience will be totally different from that on the ground,” a press official from China Eastern Airlines said.
China Eastern has four flights that should excite passengers — MU5121/28 (Hongqiao to Beijing), MU5339 (Hongqiao to Guangzhou), MU5393 (Hongqiao to Zhengzhou) and MU5647/8 (Hongqiao to Wuyishan).
