THE Shanghai Charity Foundation will hold auctions, including the World Expo exhibits, next month to help the children of migrant workers and local needy people. Meanwhile, a local hospital will offer a free operation to a child suffering from congenital heart disease early next month.
The child comes from a family in Keshen City of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said officials. On New Year's Day, shopping malls and local businesses will donate part of their profits to the foundation. Officials said this is very significant as it means every shopper on that day would be contributing to charity.
