THE Shanghai No.1 Intermediate People's Court yesterday sentenced a transportation company boss to three years in prison with a reprieve of four years on smuggling charges.
Baiweilu International Co Ltd contracted Shanghai Chaolun International Freight Co Ltd to export magnesia but in the name of fumarate and perlite for zero tariff. The company evaded tax totaling 470,000 yuan (US$69,140) and paid Gu Yiming, the transportation firm boss, 150,000 yuan.
