Jet turns back after passenger heart attack
A Hong Kong Airlines flight from Shanghai to Hong Kong returned shortly after takeoff on Monday night because a middle-aged woman had suffered a heart attack, officials said.
The passenger, surnamed Wang, felt unwell shortly after the flight departed from the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport about 9pm.
Learning that she had a history of heart diseases, the crew decided to turn around.
Having been informed, the airport prepared an emergency route to ensure that Wang could be rushed to hospital as soon as possible.
She is now reported to be out of danger.
It was reported that Wang rarely made long trips and that being in an unfamiliar environment may have triggered the heart attack.
