Knife-wielding man shot dead by police in midnight slashing rampage

SHANGHAI police yesterday shot dead a knife-wielding man during his midnight rampage, which was risking lives of residents in a downtown residential complex in Changning District.
Police said they were alarmed at 11:46pm. The man was slashing parking cars inside the residential complex on the crossing of Jianhe Road and Quankou Road when police arrived.
He was also carrying two long bayonets on his back during the attack, police said.
Police said he was also threatening the residents. Police warned him to stop the attack and shot him down when he slashed towards the police.
He was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead later.
The case is now under investigation.
