Live poultry ban
SHANGHAI will ban live poultry sales from February 8 to April 30 next year to prevent bird flu and other diseases caused by live fowl. Only frozen poultry will be available in the city during the ban. Besides the annual seasonal ban, downtown Jing’an and Huangpu districts have already banned live poultry trade permanently. Such practices were introduced after H7N9 bird flu outbreaks.
