Low visibility in Shanghai
SHANGHAI was enveloped in heavy fog for a third straight day yesterday due to a lack of wind and high humidity, with moderate air pollution recorded for short periods.
However, conditions should improve from today with rain due to arrive.
Most districts reported low visibility yesterday morning, with Jiading and Chongming seeing it fall below 100 meters at 6:30am. Ferries to Chongming Island were suspended.
The city’s average air quality index climbed to a day-high of 179, or moderately polluted, at 10am. It is forecast to fall to between 40 and 90 today. Tomorrow, the AQI should be in the 35 to 55 range.
