Man arrested for hacking ex-girlfriend
A MAN accused of hacking his ex-girlfriend in a revenge attack has been arrested in Fengxian District.
Prosecutors said yesterday the suspect surnamed Liu, a single migrant worker, met the victim, identified as Fan Ling, on the Internet.
Although they never registered a marriage, they held a “wedding banquet” in 2013. So Liu believed Fan was his wife, prosecutors said.
After they lived together for a year, Fan moved out.
But she still visited from time to time to help take care of Liu’s son, leading Liu to wrongly believe she still loved him.
On November 7 last year, Liu heard man’s voice when he telephoned Fan. Drunk, he went to her home and saw a man in the bathroom.
After a confrontation, Liu took a knife from the kitchen and attacked Fan, causing serious head injuries.
Her landlord, hearing her screams, came downstairs and found her lying motionless in a pool of blood.
Liu later surrendered to police.
Prosecutors have asked police to continue investigating before they decide if they will charge Liu.
