Man arrested over ‘fake water’

A MAN accused of selling bogus barreled water worth 150,000 yuan (US$22,200) has been arrested for counterfeiting, prosecutors in Songjiang District said yesterday.
Songjiang police received a tip-off on June 9 that empty barrels bearing the names of famous brands like Nongfu Spring and Nestle were being filled with tap water at a drinking water station in Xinqiao Town. Police caught the suspect surnamed Zhang in a raid.
From his workshop, police seized more than 300 branded barrels. He said he bought the barrels from a recycling station, each priced at several yuan.
