Man arrested over massage murder
A MAN has been arrested in connection with the murder and robbery of a woman offering massage services in her home.
The suspect surnamed Wu, 29, a university graduate and real estate company employee, was heavily in debt, said Huangpu District prosecutors.
According to prosecutors, Wu killed the woman as he hoped to find money in her apartment.
Prosecutors said in 2012 Wu borrowed 300,000 yuan (US$48,716) from a bank as he was getting married.
Later, as his debts grew, he juggled credit cards, borrowed from loan sharks and mortgaged his parents’ home.
Returning from an overseas holiday with his wife, Wu is said to have decided to rob women offering massage services.
Prosecutors said on July 21, he made contact with a woman on the Internet and went to her apartment the following day.
Wu killed the woman with a hammer, according to prosecutors. He didn’t find any money in her room, they said.
He was held by police on July 27. Wu has admitted his guilt, said prosecutors.
