Man given 7 years for assault

A MAN has been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for a violent assault that left his victim in a coma.
The defendant, identified only by his surname Wang, attacked a man surnamed Tu with a brick about 10pm on July 5 after finding him chatting to his wife, the Minhang District Court heard.
Wang, a 38-year-old native of east China’s Jiangxi Province, hit Tu repeatedly about the head, causing serious bleeding in his brain, the court heard.
As well as the prison sentence, he was ordered to pay Tu’s family 332,000 yuan (US$51,000) in compensation.
