Man held over nurse murder in Minhang

A MAN has been formally arrested in connection with the murder of a nurse outside her apartment building in suburban Minhang District earlier this month, prosecutors said yesterday.
The 27-year-old suspect is accused of stabbing to death the woman, identified only by her surname Ding, as she was returning home about 2am on November 4 from Zhongshan Hospital in Xuhui District where she worked, the Minhang prosecutors office said.
The attacker fled the scene with Ding’s handbag, which contained about 1,600 yuan (US$250) in cash and a bank card, police said earlier.
The suspect was detained later the same day after police studied footage from surveillance cameras at the scene of the crime, they said.
