Man in drag arrested in bank theft case worth nearly 100m yuan
A man who stole about 100 million yuan (US$15 million) from 24 bank accounts in Hangzhou was arrested in Shanghai, police said yesterday.
The man surnamed He was wearing a long wig and walking awkwardly in high heels at Hongqiao Railway Station when officers spotted him, police said. He was planning to board a train bound for Jiangxi Province.
He told police officers he had managed to escape several times by dressing up like a woman and taking trains.
He has been handed over to Hangzhou police and returned all of the 95.5 million yuan he had stolen, Shanghai officers said.
