Man told to pay child support

A LOCAL court yesterday ordered a man to pay his girlfriend 2,000 yuan (US$326) every month as child maintenance after the man denied he had fathered a son and refused to take a paternity test.

The man met the woman, surnamed Wang, on the Internet in June 2011 and traveled together during the National Day holidays, the Pudong New Area People's Court heard yesterday.

They maintained a close relationship after that but did not get married.

Wang delivered a child on July 28 the next year. But the man refused to accept that it was his child.

The man insisted that he was on vacation in his hometown when Wang got pregnant but refused to undertake a paternity test.

The judge told the man he could face losing the lawsuit if he didn't take the test, but the man still refused.

The court delivered its verdict on the available evidences. The photos, call logs and testimony proved that the two shared a close relationship and could be seen as a couple.
