Man tried for slaying boss after pay dispute

A man charged with killing his boss over a wage dispute went on trial for murder yesterday at the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People’s Court.

The 25-year-old defendant, surnamed Li, is accused of bludgeoning his victim, surnamed Jin, with a hammer after luring her to a hotel room in Songjiang District in January.

Prosecutors said that after knocking the woman unconscious, Li hanged her in the hotel bathroom and later dumped her body in a local creek.

The court heard that Li had been employed as a delivery driver by Jin, who owned an online store.

Prosecutors said he planned the attack after Jin refused to pay him what he believed he was owed.

The court failed to reach a verdict yesterday.
