Metro commuters help woman who collapsed
A WOMAN who fainted on a Metro station yesterday morning received immediate help from fellow Chinese and foreign commuters.
The 57-year-old woman collapsed at Metro Line 8’s People’s Square Station at 9am yesterday. Among those who stepped up to help her were two foreigners, who appeared to be doctors.
According to a witness, the male foreigner put on a pair of medical gloves and lifted the woman’s head up and then checked on her. A young Chinese woman helped in interpreting.
The two foreigners seemed to have medical knowledge and suggested that the woman most likely collapsed due to cardiovascular disease. After gaining consciousness, the woman could not express herself clearly, the witness said.
Another Chinese commuter, claiming to be a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor, also joined in the effort to revive the woman. He gave a simple massage to the woman to ease her discomfort.
The woman had regained consciousness when police and ambulance arrived.
A quick medical check on the scene showed she had high blood pressure. But the woman insisted she was okay and walked out of the station on her own.
Metro police said the foreigners did not leave their contact information.
