Mom leaps from burning building with infant son
A WOMAN jumped from a third-story window with her baby yesterday to escape a fire at her home.
The mother, surnamed Tian, hurt her foot while her 20-day-old son was unharmed.
Shortly after 10am, a cleaner surnamed Zhou saw flames licking from a second floor window of a three-story villa at the Oriental Pearl Garden community in Qingpu District, a security guard told Shanghai Daily.
“She shouted to the guards and we called the firefighters,” he said.
The quick-thinking mom wrapped her baby in a quilt and jumped out of the window, he said.
Once on the ground, an ambulance team whisked them away to hospital for checks, he said.
The guard said Tian’s family runs a courier business from the property.
The cause of the fire is as yet unknown, police said.
