More minors call pregnancy hotline

MORE than 400 minors called 65876866 -- the city's first hotline offering consultation and guidance for unexpected pregnancy -- during the summer vocation, 40 percent more usual and 10 percent more than the same time last year.
The hotline received a total of some 1,300 calls for consultation and help in the past two years.
Nearly 20 minors went to the Shanghai No. 411 Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, which backs the hotline, in the past two months for an abortion after calling the hotline, officials said yesterday.
Since being established in 2005, the hotline has received over 43,000 calls and offered help to some 4,800 pregnant young women and minors.
