Mystery of black swans solved
A MYSTERY surrounding where a pair of black swans spotted on the Huangpu River came from has been solved.
A property management company has confirmed that it rented three pairs of black swans but two of the birds vanished several days ago.
Savills China, which manages Shimao Riviera Garden, a luxurious neighborhood in the Pudong New Area, said it had intended to raise the birds in the community.
It had planned to clip their wings, but one pair took flight before this could be done.
The birds first appeared on the Huangpu River on Saturday, to the surprise of witnesses as water birds are seldom seen there. Two days later they were sighted near Binjiang Avenue.
The Shanghai Wildlife Conservation Center has tried to catch the swans as there is little food in the river.
Officials said the search for the swans continues.
