A man who stole two gold necklaces from a jewelry store in Fengxian District was sentenced to 10 and a half years in jail, the Fengxian District People’s Court said. Prosecutors said the 29-year-old man posed as a customer and asked a shop assistant to let him try on the jewelry on July 4 last year. After he putting on the necklaces, he bolted out the door and later sold them for 18,000 yuan (US$2,705). Police said he had also hit jewelry stores in Kunshan City in Jiangsu Province in March and April last year.
