Official on trial
A top official with the Shanghai Radio Administrative Bureau was on trial yesterday, accused of dividing state-owned assets worth over 13 million yuan (US$2.04 million) with his colleagues in the name of welfare benefits, the Xuhui District People's Court heard.
Xu Guozhen, 60, the former deputy director of the radio bureau, was also accused of taking bribes from Chen Xiaohui, a boss who is alleged to have helped Xu get the state-owned assets through a designed outsourcing scheme, according to prosecutors. The court did not announce a verdict yesterday.
