Pinching salt
ABOUT 2,000 cafeterias at offices will take part in a pilot program to control the amount of salt in the food they serve, under the direction of the Shanghai Patriotic Health Campaign Commission, officials said yesterday. Local people consume 9.9 grams of salt every day, higher than the 6 grams maximum suggested by the World Health Organization. The commission will also establish disease-prevention groups at local companies.
