Police nab Shenyang swindler for rape
A FRAUDSTER who swindled over 170,000 yuan (US$27,761) from a local married woman and raped her four times by scaring her about evil spirits was nabbed in northeast China and brought to Shanghai, Pudong police said.
The victim, surnamed Wang, has been married for three years but often had disputes with her husband. She happened to see an online site whose owner claimed he could drive away evil spirits.
Wang told the person, surnamed Li, about her problems and sought help from him over her marital problems.
Li said it was because Wang was haunted by evil spirits and sold her some amulets.
However, Wang did not see any improvement in her relationship with her husband.
Li then arranged a meeting with Wang and raped her in a hotel room in the Pudong New Area in June.
He threatened her that he would cast a spell on them if she didn’t oblige that would lead to the couple’s separation.
Over the next two months, Li raped Wang four times. He also swindled more than 170,000 yuan from her for the “divine” amulets.
Wang realized that she was being cheated and approached the police.
Pudong Police caught up with Li in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, on September 18 and recovered some 110,000 yuan from him.
