Problems found in Nike, other shoes
SOME leading brands, such as Nike, said they are investigating their products in Shanghai after quality problems were found in their shoes.
According to the Shanghai Industrial and Commercial Administrative Bureau, a recent market inspection found that some Puma, Converse, Nike and Pierre Cardin shoes had flaws, including dye problems and peeling strength.
A type of Nike shoes for women were found to have loose uppers, which could easily come unglued. Puma and Pierre Cardin shoes had a similar problem. The bureau said peeling strength has often been a hot spot of consumers' complaints on shoes. Nearly 60 percent of the questioned products had the problem.
Several pairs of shoes, such as a pair of Pumas, were found to have a "rather odd look." Officials said some of the shoes were poorly dyed or sewn.
Officials have told the markets selling the shoes to remove the questioned products from shelves.
