Putuo's 'talent workshop' enriching local life

Putuo District has started seven "talent workshops" that teaches handicrafts, porcelain-carving and paper-cutting at community schools that aims to enrich residents life while imparting traditional cultures.

Each resident has to pay 100 yuan (US$16.4) per year to take the course and learn a new art skill.

Community education has been getting much attention in recent years ever since Shanghai advocated the concept of lifelong learning.

The community schools also provide a wide range of courses in preschool education, for seniors as well as activities for students.
