THE fire department will recruit 530 fire fighters from Tuesday to December 4. The new recruits from the public will receive training and work as contracted employees as the city tries to meet the shortage of firefighters. Most of the 9,000-odd firefighters in the city are recruited on a military-style compulsory service. The latest recruitment campaign has 170 openings in the logistics department.
