Restaurants fined
SEVERAL local seafood and chain restaurants were found serving short-weight seafood to diners and using scales that did not go through routine checks.
Merrylin's Hongkou outlet was fined and more than 100,000 yuan (US$16,129) made in profits were confiscated by officials.
A remote-control receiver was found inside the electronic weighing scale, which allowed the Merrylin's staff to control the weight of seafood and pushed the weight up by up to 45 percent.
