A SPORTS utility vehicle rear-ended a flatbed trailer early yesterday morning, resulting in the deaths of the two people in the SUV. The accident occurred about 4:50am near Fangdian Road in the Pudong New Area, where the fast-traveling Mercedes-Benz SUV crashed into the trailer in front of it, xinmin.cn reported. The front of the SUV was severely damaged and lodged under the trailer due to the impact of the collision. A man and woman in the SUV were found to be dead when firefighters cut their way in. About two hours later, a van hit a male pedestrian on Hunan Road. He died at the scene.
