Screws broke escalator

THREE loose screws were to blame for the malfunction of an escalator at Hongkou Football Stadium Metro Station on Tuesday, the city’s quality watchdog said yesterday.
The screws were found inside the mechanism, but it is not clear if they were parts of the machine itself, the Shanghai Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision said. No one was hurt in the incident, but it was a “frightening experience for those people on the escalator at the time,” the Metro operator said.
