Security tightened on trains to Suzhou
SECURITY on trains bound for Suzhou will be tightened from today as part of the preparations for next week’s international summit in the city, Shanghai railway police said yesterday.
At least 50 officers armed with tear gas will be deployed on all trains running to the city until the conclusion of the Fourth Meeting of Heads of Government of China and Eastern European countries on Wednesday, it said in a press release.
A number of new restrictions on road traffic will also apply, Suzhou police said yesterday.
From Monday to Wednesday, all cars with non-Suzhou license plates will be banned from traveling on roads within the Middle Ring Expressway between 7am and midnight, while on Monday only, the section of the S58 Shanghai-Changzhou Expressway between the Dianshan Lake toll and Yinshan exit will be closed to all traffic except emergency services vehicles.
