Shanghai’s style brands to shine at Milan Expo
SEVERAL food and fashion brands from Shanghai will be represented within the China Pavilion at this year’s World Expo in Milan, Italy.
The section promoting Shanghai will be the largest of 11 permanent displays within the national pavilion, an unnamed official involved in coordinating the event said at a promotional event yesterday.
Among the local companies on show will be Bright Food, whose “intelligent kitchen” will form part of a larger display concerned with the Internet of Things.
As well as showing off their new technologies, food and agricultural firms from Shanghai will hold a series of talks with their Italian counterparts to explore business opportunities.
Similar meetings will be held between companies in the fashion sector.
Tong Jisheng, chairman of state-owned textiles firm Shangtex, said he is looking forward to working with Italian fashion firms.
“Italian brands will find great potential in Shanghai,” he said.
The food and fashion forums will be held from June 9 to 13 during Shanghai Week in the China Pavilion.
The Milan Expo is scheduled to run from May 1 to October 31.
